xenharmonic
Musics that are based on scales that aren't the 12-tone equal temperament (which is the most common currently). Sometimes also as microtonal, despite some xenharmonic music is based on scales that have intervals bigger than 12-TET, a more logical name for which would be "macrotonal".
A few notable mentions:
- Jacob Collier (who is very subtle with this)
- Brendan Byrnes
- Sevish
- Easley Blackwood (who did the microtonal etudes which lead me into this rabbit hole)
